In spite of the "boring life", I am so happy to be here in SA...especially since, for the first time in many, many years, I am able to celebrate one of my best friends, Nancy's, birthday with her! It was a blast...watched the Springbok/All Blacks game at a local pub and dined on chicken strips and friend mushrooms with Simon and Nancy's other close friends. The next day we had a feast at her sister-in-laws house which left me wobbling around with a full stomach!
Saturday Simon and I also biked Groenkloof nature reserve for the first time, and came across Zebra, Impala and Kudu. Was fantastic!

Super Boring Post
Okay so it's been a while since I last wrote, as many of you have pointed out! My first thought is: "Wow, so people ACTUALLY read this blog?" Well okay...here it is.
This has been my life since May...work, get off work, then work some more, then sleep, then get up and go to work, with a movie that I have probably watched 100 times stuck in the mix. Explanation:
a. Lightening storm fried our TV antenna so we no longer have basic TV even. Saving all my dough for a trip to the USA in December so I havent bought a new Antenna yet, forcing me to rewatch DVD's over and over. (also helps with point "c")
b. Work 10 hours a day at day job
c. Work most other times on new feature film I'm producing....busy with the business plan at the moment.
Not very interesting hey? So I promise I will write again when something interesting actually happens to me...right now its unbelievably boring....and cold!!!

Voting Day
A great thing about South Africa is that voting day is a national holiday. And this is how I spent it:
1. woke up at crack of dawn to vote in the hopes that no line will have yet been formed so early.
2. Hopes dashed as line wrapped around into the parking lot
3. left line after 10 minutes
4. spent the day at the rhino and lion park and restled lion cubs
5. returned home later that afternoon and voted, this time there was no line whatsoever.
6. Along with many other south africans, managed to keep Zuma and the ANC from obtaining 2/3rds of the majority therefore keeping his amount of power in check.
Day well spent.

Birthday 2009
So I'm 32...whoop-dee-doo! I have to say that I am quite surprised to find myself completely and utterly at peace with the idea. Wow. Heather Tribe...well into her 30's. Who would have ever thought? And now that I have found the 30's to be quiet surprisingly young, I'm no longer afraid of advancing age...in fact, I'm looking forward to my 40's and 50's (although the 60's still hold some dread for me). Sigh. If only I could go back to my 25 year old self in the midst of my "quarter life crises" and tell myself this. I would have saved myself so much stress!
I brought it in Italian style- hole-in-the-wall Italian place where the owner is your waiter and entertainer...He even made me do a jig on table top..... Dont have that many friends here yet, so I sponged off the friends I do have and invited their friends and what do you know!? I found I was actually quite popular! Even got some cool gifts out of them! Yay me!

BLOOM MOVIE POSTER
BLOOM's movie poster is finished! I am so excited about it....
After telling everyone that Bloom is finally finished, I realized that there is one more thing that needs to be done in order to make it the best it can be. One of the scenes would greatly improve with a couple of lines of dubbing. I'm hoping it will take me a couple of weeks at most, but really depends on how fast I can find two actors to record. In any case, Bloom has developed into a first film that I am so proud of!

Ahhhh! Just returned from an amaaaaazing vacation. Simon and I went to the Cape, for his parent's 40th wedding anniversary. It was splendid! Found ourselves in a lodge surrounded with hills of Fynbos and the ocean in the distance...and it was quiet, so quiet, except for the wind that blew so hard it sounded like ocean waves. In Pringles Bay. Hiked in magnificent Fynbos and drank in stunning views of the sea. Found amber-colored waterfalls with pristine pools and took a (frigid but wonderful) dip in the pools. Marvelous. Visited two of my favorite places in Cape Town - Cape Point and Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens.
Best of all, I got to know Simon's family a lot better, and I found that I really enjoy them. Such a cool, cool family. 3 new strings of acquantance I took away from the experience was discovering more about him in his childhood, the taste of Dutch food - yumm!- and Poker!!! They played poker until 3am...so much fun....
Now Im housesitting at the mansion again. Day after tomorrow Im heading to Marakele Game Reserve in the Waterberg with some friends for a New Years Eve party in the bush. Will post all about it soon...

So I've been waiting 2 months for these pictures to be sent to me, and finally they have! A couple of weeks after arriving in SA I worked for a weekend at a Lion farm providing activities for 75 16-year old girls; an assignment that I admit made me more nervous than producing my first film. But it turned out well...had a lot of fun! Best of all, 10 minutes after arriving I was approached by lion cubs, one of which jumped on my back and swatted me and would have scratched my back with his baby claws had I not had a backpack on! It was all in play of course. The one Im holding here is 6 weeks old....
